Amy Mitchell, Esq., is a Canadian-born attorney, award-winning author, and Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator with a distinguished career in law and legal writing. She holds an honors BA in English from the University of Toronto and earned both her JD from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and an LLB from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law. With a deep commitment to justice and legal advocacy, Mitchell has built a respected career practicing family law at The Marks Law Firm in Orlando, Florida. Her expertise in mediation and litigation has earned her numerous accolades, including the Elite Lawyer award and recognition as one of Orlando’s Attorneys of the Year in 2024.

Beyond her legal practice, Mitchell has made significant contributions to the literary and legal communities through her work as an author. She co-authored The Velvet Hammer with former Chief Judge Belvin Perry Jr., a gripping true crime memoir that provides an insider’s perspective on some of Florida’s most notorious cases. The book offers a deep dive into the complexities of the legal system, including the high-profile Casey Anthony trial, shedding light on the courtroom strategies, legal intricacies, and public scrutiny that defined the case.
